4-7-8 breathing

A 4-second inhale, 7-second hold, 8-second exhale — a long-exhale downshift pattern.

Also known as: Triangle breathing

The 4-7-8 ratio is one recipe of the long-exhale principle. The exhale-to-inhale ratio (about 2:1) is what does the physiological work; the specific counts are one workable version.
